Mexico Hosts Mexico would have felt good about their Group A results. Beginning with a 0-0 draw against U.S.S.R. the Mexicans defeated El Salvador 4-0 and then Belgium 1-0 in their all important final Group fixture. It wasn't to last though as the hosts fell to Italy in the Quarter Finals. Tied 1-1 at half-time the Italians streaked away in the second half to win 4-1. Scorers: Vantolra, Valdivia, Fragoso, Basaguren, Pena, Gonzalez. |
